This article is part of: Ubud, Bali in THE LONG EXHALE
Peak season in Bali is July and August. The rice terraces are green, the weather is dry, and the roads are packed. March and April give you 90% of the experience with half the crowds.
Weather: Still warm (28–32°C). Brief afternoon showers, but mornings are clear. The landscape is lush from the wet season that just ended.
What you gain: Yoga retreats have space. Restaurants don't need reservations. The monkey forest is less of a scrum. You can actually hear the jungle.
What you trade: Some rice terraces might be in between planting cycles — less uniformly green. A few smaller cafes close for low season. Worth it.
Pricing: Accommodation runs 20–30% less than July. A $40 room in March might be $55 in August.
